Areas We Support
-
Identity Shifts & Self-Understanding
We support adults navigating identity change and self-understanding, including questions related to gender, sexuality, faith, culture, and belonging. Our therapists provide affirming, thoughtful care for LGBTQ+ individuals in Austin and others who are exploring their identity and how they want to live.
-
Life Transitions & Major Change
We specialize in supporting adults through major life changes, such as career shifts, relationship endings, becoming a parent, relocating, or entering a new stage of adulthood. These transitions often bring grief, uncertainty, and identity questions, and therapy provides a grounded space to navigate them.
-
Grief & Loss
We support adults navigating grief in its many forms, including the loss of a loved one, relationships, place, identities, health, faith, or the life you expected to have. Our work honors the complexity of grief without rushing it or trying to “fix” it.
-
Relationships, Attachment & Boundaries
Therapy at Willow Tree often includes exploring relational patterns, whether in romantic partnerships, family systems, or friendships. We support clients in understanding attachment, setting boundaries, and creating more authentic and sustainable relationships.
-
Burnout, Overwhelm & Emotional Exhaustion
We work with adults who feel chronically overwhelmed, emotionally depleted, or stuck in cycles of burnout, often despite appearing capable or “high-functioning” on the outside. Therapy focuses on restoring connection, capacity, and meaning, not just coping skills.
“ We celebrate and delight in our differences. We acknowledge the limitations we may have in understanding the struggles others face based on gender identity, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, religion, body size, socioeconomic status, and education. Willow Tree Collective is a sex-positive, LGBTQ+ affirming, trauma-informed, and climate-aware practice focused on cultivating healing and connection. ”

The First Steps
-
01
Great! You’ve taken the first step for yourself in doing the research (Wow that part can be so overwhelming!) First we’ll set up a 20 minutes consultation to determine if we want to work together.
-
02
For the first session, we’ll go over paperwork and get to know one another. It’s a slow process in building a relationship and we take great delight in learning about your story and what makes you, you!
-
03
We ask clients to commit to meeting weekly for the first 6-8 sessions. After that, we’ll discuss need and options for frequency. This process is collaborative, so we’ll continually be in conversation about your needs & feelings through this process.
-
In Person & Virtual
There can be many factors in deciding what type of therapy is right for you, which is why we offer both virtual and in person sessions. Our hope in providing a variety of options to folks is to help make therapy as accessible as possible. There are benefits to both and we am happy to discuss these options in more detail during a consultation.

-
Outdoor Therapy
Sometimes we need a break from sitting inside or staring at our screens. If you’re looking for a therapist in Austin who offers outdoor sessions, we do! Being outside can provide deeper levels of connection to ourselves and the natural world. We offer outdoor sessions at Pease Park at specific times of day. Some clients have said it’s helpful to walk and talk while others have enjoyed just finding a quiet spot to connect.
